Dr Fairuz Osman

Completing her medical degree in 2008, Dr. Fairuz Binti worked in various hospital departments before serving in the emergency department for five years. She began her journey in family medicine in 2013 and has since served in community health and general practice clinics. She obtained her fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2019.

Dr. Fairuz understands the nature of women’s development from womb to tomb, emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to women’s health care. She is committed to delivering better health for women by offering comprehensive medical services and personalised care. Her expertise includes understanding the impact of hormones on women’s health at different stages of life and prioritising mental health care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Fairuz is a proud mother of four wonderful kids. Her joy and passion revolve around spending quality time with her family. She finds solace in the pages of books and poetry, often transporting her to different worlds. Exploring new destinations through travel excites her, while brisk walks in nature rejuvenate her soul.

Dr. Jin Gao

Dr. Jin Gao is a compassionate and dedicated doctor who moved from New Zealand to Melbourne with her family in 2023. After graduating from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2013, she embarked on her medical career, gaining experience as a junior doctor across various specialties. During this time, she completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences with a focus on women’s health.

Dr. Jin spent an extended period in the obstetrics and gynaecology department, where she completed five university papers centered on women’s health. This deeply rewarding experience enhanced her understanding of the significant impact health concerns can have on women’s lives. Since then, she has been passionate about delivering high-quality healthcare to women.

With over 9 years of experience in general practice and urgent care, Dr. Jin is a Fellow of The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and was also a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care. She is dedicated to working closely with her patients, helping them achieve their best and healthiest selves.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Jin enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new places, and has a keen interest in personal development and wellness.

Dr Gayathri Kosaka

After completing her medical degree and internship focusing on obstetrics, Dr. Gayathri Kosaka has pursued a career dedicated to women’s health. She moved to Australia after her internship, alongside her husband, and has since honed her skills and expertise in obstetrics and general practice for over 12 years.

Dr. Kosaka’s journey into women’s health began at the young age of 12, when she assisted with a birth in a village. This early experience ignited a lifelong passion for empowering women through various stages of their lives. She has undergone extensive training in Australia, practicing as a GP obstetrician and providing compassionate care to her patients.

Dr. Gayathri Kosaka practiced at Griffith, where she consistently supported and empowered women with her specialised knowledge and unwavering dedication. A proud mother of two wonderful children, she deeply values her family life, finding a harmonious balance between her professional commitments and personal joys.

Outside of her medical career, Dr. Kosaka enjoys an active lifestyle that includes bush walking, cycling, and playing badminton. These activities provide a well-rounded balance to her professional and personal life, reflecting her commitment to both her career and her family.

Dr Bindiya Sethi

After completing her medical degree in 2001, Dr. Bindiya Sethi embarked on a journey that combines a passion for public health with extensive medical training. She initially contributed to a pilot project by the World Health Organization (WHO) at a university medical college and hospital. Seeking to broaden her expertise, Dr. Sethi moved to Australia to begin her General Practice training with Monash Health and Peninsula Health.

Dr. Sethi further specialised in children’s health, earning advanced training from Westmead Hospital in Sydney. She also holds a certificate in Health Economics and Policy from the prestigious London School of Economics. Her commitment to the medical community is evident through her service as a council member and Deputy Chair of the RACGP Victoria Faculty. Additionally, she is a council member of MacRobertson Girls’ High School and a board member of a migrant and refugee health center.

Dr. Sethi is skilled in fitting and removing intrauterine devices (IUDs) and Implanon, and she is also qualified to train and supervise other healthcare practitioners in these procedures.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Sethi enjoys an active lifestyle. She loves playing badminton and basketball with her daughters and often rides bicycles with her partner. Dr. Sethi also finds solace in meditation and cherishes her time with close friends.

Dr. Liyana Jayaweera

Dr. Liyana Jayaweera has a rich background in medical education and supervision, serving as a mentor for medical students from the University of Newcastle and as a supervisor for GP registrars under the RACGP program. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Liyana’s passion for teaching is evident in her commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

During her GP training, Dr. Liyana recognized the importance of specializing in women’s health to better serve her female patients. This led her to pursue additional training in family planning and sexual health, equipping her with the skills to address a wide range of women’s health issues effectively.

As a member of the Australian Menopausal Society (AMS) and the International Menopausal Society (IMS), Dr. Liyana has developed a keen interest in long-acting contraception methods like IUDs, IUSs, and implants, as well as menopausal health management.

Prior to transitioning to General Practice, Dr. Liyana gained extensive experience in various hospital settings, including Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, and Intensive Care, both locally and internationally.

With her holistic approach to patient care and wealth of experience, Dr. Liyana Jayaweera is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical services and improving the health and well-being of her patients.

Outside of her professional duties, Dr. Liyana finds joy in outdoor activities like bushwalking and golfing, embracing the natural beauty of her surroundings.

Dr Regina Cabuang

Completing her degree in 1999 in the Philippines, Dr Regina did basic paediatric training in Philippine General Hospital from 2005 and then from 2008 worked in private practice in paediatrics.

Migrating to New Zealand in 2008, Dr Regina worked as a Resident Medical Officer on the Auckland District Health Board, before completing her Fellowship with the RNZCGP.

Although having completed training and working within paediatrics and skin cancer, Dr Regina has developed a special interest in helping women with their health concerns. Dr Regina says that one third of her patients are women and they all say that no one would listen to them, so she feels proud to be able to offer an empathetic ear.

Dr Sheila Manmathan

Dr. Sheila Manmathan graduated from St. Bartholomew’s, University of London in 2010. After practicing in NSW for 10 years, she returned to the UK to complete her specialist training. During her career, she has been actively involved in teaching, serving as a GP tutor for medical students and tutoring allied health professionals. Currently, she works as a clinical tutor and examiner for Monash Medical School, contributing to the training of future doctors.

Her primary focus is on health prevention and advocating for her patients’ best interests, ensuring they play an active and informed role in managing their health conditions. Dr. Sheila recently returned to Australia with her husband and two children, who occupy most of her spare time.

She believes that women’s health is often underserved and that early intervention can significantly improve the quality of life for women. Dr. Sheila is passionate about advocating for women to have a greater understanding of their health and to seek help without suffering in silence. She takes a holistic approach, addressing both physical and mental concerns.

As women juggle multiple roles in life, their self-care and awareness of their healthcare needs can be overlooked. Dr. Sheila ensures that her patients prioritize their health, even amid other responsibilities. She understands the various challenges women face throughout their lives and brings both her personal experience and medical knowledge into each consultation.

Dr. Sheila aims to empower her patients to feel in control of their health decisions, ultimately having a positive impact on their well-being.

Dr Thandar san

Dr. Thandar San graduated from Myanmar in 2013 and commenced practice in Australia in 2016. Her motivation to become a GP stems from her desire to provide comprehensive care to patients, addressing their physical, psychological, and social needs. She obtained her fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2020.

Women’s health presents unique challenges. From puberty to menopause, hormonal changes can significantly impact everyday life. Dr. Thandar San is committed to empowering women to understand and address these changes, ensuring they do not suffer in silence. She finds it rewarding to educate women about their health and support them throughout their journey. As a GP, she considers it an honor to provide this essential service in women’s health.

Outside of work, Dr. Thandar San enjoys spending time with her family and exploring new recipes through cooking and baking.

Dr Cindy Sun

Dr. Cindy graduated from Monash University in 2011 and undertook her internship at Peninsula Health. She then worked in obstetrics and gynaecology for the next 5 years, at Eastern Health, The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and later at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, before returning to Melbourne to pursue a career as a general practitioner.

During this time, she also obtained a diploma in women’s health and participated in pregnancy shared care with Monash Health.

She believes women’s health is underserved and that early intervention can significantly improve the quality of life of women.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Cindy enjoys shopping, traveling, reading, and gardening.

Dr Tania Altaf

Dr Tania Altaf is a part-time GP who enjoys traveling and reading books. Balancing her professional and personal life is crucial to her, especially with a family of young children.

Upon arriving in Australia, Dr Tania Altaf had to complete her exams before securing a job. She began her career in a small QLD hospital, later transitioning to a larger hospital. Eventually, she found her passion in general practice and has been practicing as a GP since 2018, completing her Final exam in 2022. Dr Tania Altaf is currently based in ACT.

Women everywhere prioritise the needs of others over their own, often neglecting their physical and mental well-being. As a woman herself, Dr Tania Altaf strives to empower her patients to prioritise self-care.
