Dr. Liyana Jayaweera has a rich background in medical education and supervision, serving as a mentor for medical students from the University of Newcastle and as a supervisor for GP registrars under the RACGP program. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Liyana’s passion for teaching is evident in her commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

During her GP training, Dr. Liyana recognized the importance of specializing in women’s health to better serve her female patients. This led her to pursue additional training in family planning and sexual health, equipping her with the skills to address a wide range of women’s health issues effectively.

As a member of the Australian Menopausal Society (AMS) and the International Menopausal Society (IMS), Dr. Liyana has developed a keen interest in long-acting contraception methods like IUDs, IUSs, and implants, as well as menopausal health management.

Prior to transitioning to General Practice, Dr. Liyana gained extensive experience in various hospital settings, including Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, and Intensive Care, both locally and internationally.

With her holistic approach to patient care and wealth of experience, Dr. Liyana Jayaweera is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical services and improving the health and well-being of her patients.

Outside of her professional duties, Dr. Liyana finds joy in outdoor activities like bushwalking and golfing, embracing the natural beauty of her surroundings.
